Licence Types and Ages

AM - 16 years old.

Mopeds up to 50CC, restricted not to exceed 28mph

You can do this 2 ways.

1 - Take a CBT (compulsory basic training) course. When you have completed and passed this course,
you can then ride a moped with a maximum speed of 30mph for 2 years with L plates.

2 - If you want to ride without L plates,
you would need to do a CBT, Theory and Practical Test. (Module 1 & module 2)
You can ride a moped for a long as you want.

A1 - 17 Years Old.

Motorcycles up to 125CC AND 15BHP (11KW)

Motorcycle Training and CBT Training for Motorbike Lessons in Stockport

You can do this 2 ways.

1 - Take a CBT (compulsory basic training) course. You must display L plates. You can not carry a passanger and it lasts for 2 years.

2 - Take a CBT (compulsory basic training) course, Theory and Practical Test. (Module 1 & module 2)
no need to display L-plates, you can ride for as long as you want and carry a passenger.

A2 - 19 years old.

Motorcycles UP TO 46 BHP (35KW)

You can do this 2 ways

1 - If you have held an A1 licence for 2 years then you can take a practical test in this class.

2 - If you have not held an A1 licence for 2 years, then you would need to do a CBT (compulsory basic training) course, Theory and Practical Test. (Module 1 & module 2)

No need for L plates, you can carry passangers and ride on the motorway.

A - 21 years old.

Motorcycles of any size

1 - If you have held an A2 licence for 2 years then you can take a practical test in this class.

Want to be able to ride any motorcycle? You will need Direct Access (DAS).

To do this you need to be lat least 24 years old and.

You would need to do a CBT (compulsory basic training) course, Theory and Practical Test. (Module 1 & module 2)
No need for L plates, you can carry passangers and ride on the motorway.
